What is the purpose of the generator short circuit test?
After a new installation or overhaul, the generator should be short-circuit tested. Its purpose is to measure the loss of the generator coil, that is, measure the copper loss. The generator must meet the following conditions before conducting a short-circuit test:
(1) Generator stator cooling water is normally input;
(2) The hydrogen pressure in the generator reaches the rated value and the hydrogen cooling water is normally input;
(3) The generator outlet is short-circuited with a special short-circuit row;
(4) The excitation system guarantees a gradual and uniform boost from zero.
